Patriots vs. Jets Injury Report: Two CBs Out

Carlton Davis III and Karon Prunty are ruled out for the Patriots’ Week 6 matchup with the Jets, while Christian Gonzalez is listed without a game designation.

Patriots vs. Jets Injury Report: Two CBs Out - New England Patriots

New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel announced on Friday, Oct. 16, that cornerbacks Carlton Davis III and Karon Prunty were ruled out against the New York Jets. The Patriots vs. Jets injury report leaves New England without two cornerbacks for Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET AFC East matchup at Gillette Stadium, according to Pats Pulpit.

Pats Pulpit reported that Davis is out with a neck injury and Prunty is out with a hamstring injury. The two Patriots cornerbacks have been non-participants in six consecutive practices, according to the outlet.

Pats Pulpit also reported that Christian Gonzalez returned to the Patriots’ depth chart without a game designation after missing two starts with a shoulder injury. New England listed seven players as questionable, including A.J. Brown, TreVeyon Henderson and Will Campbell.

Patriots vs. Jets Injury Report: Carlton Davis III and Karon Prunty Out

Pats Pulpit reported that Vrabel announced the Patriots’ final injury statuses during his final press conference of the week. Davis and Prunty were listed as non-participants through the week before receiving the out designation.

The Davis and Prunty designations affect New England’s cornerback depth for the AFC East matchup. The Patriots’ final report confirms that both players will be unavailable against the Jets.

The New York Jets also have four players ruled out, according to Pats Pulpit. Running back Breece Hall is out with a quad injury, wide receiver Adonai Mitchell is out with a finger injury, guard Dylan Parham is out with a knee injury and defensive end Joseph Ossai is out with an ankle injury.

Christian Gonzalez Returns Without a Game Designation

Pats Pulpit reported that Gonzalez missed back-to-back starts because of a shoulder injury before progressing to full participation in practice. The cornerback is listed without a game designation for the Patriots’ matchup with New York.

A player listed without a game designation is not assigned an injury status on the final report. That designation does not establish Gonzalez’s expected snap count or workload, but it provides different secondary context for New England after Davis and Prunty were ruled out.

The Patriots therefore enter the game with two cornerbacks confirmed out and Gonzalez listed without a game designation, according to the final status information reported by Pats Pulpit.

Patriots’ Questionable Players Include A.J. Brown and TreVeyon Henderson

Pats Pulpit listed seven Patriots players as questionable: Henderson with an ankle injury; Brown with an ankle injury while returning from injured reserve; Campbell with a knee injury; Marcus Bryant with an ankle injury while returning from injured reserve; Christian Elliss with a chest injury; Channing Canada with a hamstring injury; and Craig Woodson with a shoulder injury.

Brown’s 21-day activation window opened after he spent four games on injured reserve with a high ankle sprain, Pats Pulpit reported. The wide receiver was a limited participant in three consecutive practices after returning to the field, according to the outlet.

Pats Pulpit also reported that Henderson and Campbell were downgraded to out during the previous week’s game. Caleb Lomu entered at left tackle for Campbell, while Corey Kiner handled change-of-pace duties behind Rhamondre Stevenson.

Those prior usage details provide context for the Patriots’ final designations, but Henderson’s and Campbell’s questionable statuses do not establish whether either player will participate Sunday. The same distinction applies to Brown, who is returning from injured reserve but remains officially listed as questionable.

Four Jets Players Are Ruled Out in Foxborough

Hall is the most prominent name among the Jets’ four confirmed absences because of his recent production, according to Pats Pulpit. The outlet reported that Hall was coming off three consecutive seasons with more than 1,300 scrimmage yards.

Mitchell is ruled out with a finger injury, according to the final report summarized by Pats Pulpit. Background on the wide receiver’s connection to the matchup is available through Jets Adonai Mitchell Patriots.

Parham and Ossai complete New York’s ruled-out list. Pats Pulpit reported that Parham is sidelined by a knee injury and Ossai is out with an ankle injury, giving the Jets four confirmed absences before the game.

Jets Add Three Questionable Players to the Final Report

Pats Pulpit listed wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. as questionable with an ankle injury while returning from injured reserve. Tight end Kenyon Sadiq is questionable with a concussion, and safety Dane Belton is questionable with a knee injury.

A questionable designation identifies a player’s final injury status but does not confirm that the player will miss the game or participate. That distinction applies to all three Jets players and to each of New England’s seven questionable players.

Pats Pulpit listed the following Patriots and Jets players on the final report:

What the Final Report Changes for Patriots-Jets

New England’s cornerback depth is affected by the absences of Davis and Prunty, while Gonzalez is listed without a game designation after returning from his shoulder injury. Pats Pulpit’s final report also places Brown, Henderson and Campbell among the Patriots’ questionable players.

New York will be without Hall, Mitchell, Parham and Ossai, while Cooper, Sadiq and Belton remain questionable. The designations identify confirmed absences and players with uncertain final injury statuses without predicting who will take the field.

The Patriots and Jets are scheduled to meet at 1 p.m. ET Sunday at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. The final injury report gives the matchup’s clearest personnel update before the AFC East game.
