The New England Patriots ruled out cornerbacks Carlton Davis and Karon Prunty for Week 6 against the New York Jets on Oct. 16.
A.J. Brown, TreVeyon Henderson and Will Campbell were questionable, while Christian Gonzalez had no injury designation.
Boston.com reported the final practice updates, including Brown’s status after he returned to practice from the ankle injury that placed him on injured reserve.
Patriots Injury Report: Two Players Ruled Out vs. Jets
Boston.com reported that Davis was ruled out with a neck injury and Prunty was ruled out with a hamstring injury. Those are the only two Patriots players listed as unavailable for the Week 6 matchup with New York.
The Patriots’ official injury report also listed five players as questionable: Brown, Henderson, Campbell, Channing Canada and Craig Woodson. A questionable designation does not establish that a player will be active for the game.
Patriots Injury Report Statuses for Week 6
The official Patriots injury report separates the two ruled-out players from the questionable group and the players listed without a game designation. Marcus Jones and Charles Woods were expected to play after fully participating in Friday’s practice.
Gonzalez was listed without an injury designation after missing the previous two games with a shoulder injury. The official status means he was not carrying a designation into the weekend; it does not provide a projection beyond that listed status.
Canada remained questionable with a hamstring injury, while Woodson was questionable with a shoulder injury. The Patriots also listed Henderson and Campbell as questionable after injuries sustained during the Week 5 victory over Las Vegas.
A.J. Brown Questionable After Return to Practice
Brown’s status is the most consequential offensive development on the Patriots injury report. He was listed questionable after returning from the ankle injury that placed him on injured reserve and missed the previous four games, the minimum absence required for a player on injured reserve.
Boston.com reported that Brown was limited Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Returning to practice allowed him to move closer to a potential return, but his questionable designation did not guarantee that he would play against the Jets.
Head coach Mike Vrabel said the Patriots would decide Saturday whether Brown would play. “We’ll have to see how he responds from practice today and then go from there,” Vrabel said, according to Boston.com.
Brown said he felt “pretty good” while acknowledging that his availability was not guaranteed. “God-willing, I’m hoping that I’m able to play, but if I’m not, I trust what the Lord is doing in my life right now,” Brown said, according to Boston.com.
The Patriots have been without Brown for four games, so his potential return would give quarterback Drake Maye another established option in the passing game. The designation, however, leaves the final decision to the team’s Saturday process and the official game status.
What Henderson and Campbell’s Questionable Designations Mean
Henderson and Campbell remained limited participants during the week after their Week 5 injuries. Boston.com reported that either player could miss multiple weeks, but neither was placed on injured reserve.
Henderson was listed as questionable rather than ruled out, preserving the possibility that he could play against the Jets without confirming his availability. Boston.com also reported Henderson’s comments that he felt “pretty good” while emphasizing that nothing was guaranteed regarding his status.
Campbell’s designation creates a separate question for the offensive line. Boston.com reported that Caleb Lomu played 49 snaps for Campbell against Las Vegas, but that previous usage does not establish a permanent replacement or confirm who will play in Week 6.
How the Injury Report Shapes Patriots-Jets Preparation
The Patriots’ cornerback situation is shaped first by the confirmed absences of Davis and Prunty. Gonzalez’s return to the injury report without a designation provides another available option in the secondary, while Jones and Woods were expected to play after their full participation Friday.
Canada and Woodson remain in the questionable group, so their final statuses will affect the depth available behind the Patriots’ listed defensive backs. The official designations should remain separate from any prediction about the team’s active roster.
Campbell’s status will determine how New England handles its offensive line, while Henderson’s status affects the running back group. Both players were questionable rather than ruled out, and the Patriots did not announce that either would miss multiple games.
Brown’s potential return is the central offensive question before kickoff. Vrabel said the Patriots would make that decision Saturday, meaning Brown’s practice participation and comments were important developments but not a confirmation that he will play.
The final availability picture will come from the Patriots’ official game status. Until then, the confirmed Week 6 absences are Davis and Prunty, Gonzalez has no injury designation, Jones and Woods were expected to play, and Brown, Henderson, Campbell, Canada and Woodson remain questionable.
