Romeo Doubs Injured Reserve: Patriots Make Roster Moves - New England Patriots

The New England Patriots placed wide receiver Romeo Doubs on injured reserve on Oct. 19, 2026, after a shoulder injury against the New York Jets.

Doubs will miss a minimum of four games, according to Pats Pulpit, which also detailed the corresponding roster and practice-squad moves.

The transaction came one day after Doubs caught a 42-yard touchdown during the first quarter of New England’s 26-19 AFC East win over the Jets at Gillette Stadium. The Patriots promoted safety Elliott Davison from the practice squad before Thursday night’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Romeo Doubs Injured Reserve After Jets Touchdown

Pats Pulpit reported that Doubs sustained the shoulder injury while making the touchdown catch against New York on Oct. 18. The 42-yard play was part of the Patriots’ victory over the Jets, and the following day’s injured-reserve placement established a minimum absence of four games.

Doubs had 14 receptions for 261 yards and three touchdowns during the 2026 season before the injury, according to Pats Pulpit. Those totals made the placement a significant change to New England’s available receiving group for the next portion of the schedule.

The Patriots entered the next matchup with a 4-2 record. Doubs’ injured-reserve status gives the team a defined minimum period without him, while the roster transactions provide the personnel changes made before the short-week game in Chicago.

Elliott Davison Takes the Open Roster Spot

The Patriots promoted Davison from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, Pats Pulpit reported. The move followed Doubs’ placement on injured reserve and occurred before New England’s Thursday night matchup with Chicago.

Davison had already received two standard elevations during the season, according to Pats Pulpit. He recorded two tackles and one pass deflection across those appearances.

His promotion gives New England an additional defensive-back option on the active roster for the Chicago game. The transaction was one of several Patriots roster moves reported on Oct. 19, with three players joining the practice squad and one player being released from it.

Patriots Add Three Players to the Practice Squad

New England signed wide receiver Ryan Miller, center Jacob Rizy and guard Andrew Rupcich to the practice squad, Pats Pulpit reported.

The Patriots also released cornerback D’Shawn Jamison from the practice squad. The four practice-squad transactions changed the composition of the group while the team prepared for the Thursday night game against the Bears.

Miller’s signing gives New England another wide receiver in the organization following Doubs’ move to injured reserve. Rizy and Rupcich add offensive-line depth to the practice squad, while Jamison’s release represents the corresponding departure from that unit.

The transactions do not change Doubs’ injured-reserve designation or the minimum four-game absence reported by Pats Pulpit. They instead outline the Patriots’ personnel movement across the active roster and practice squad before the next game.

What the Moves Mean Before Chicago

The Chicago Bears will host New England at Soldier Field on Thursday night, according to Pats Pulpit. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET.

Doubs will be unavailable for at least the next four games after the Patriots placed him on injured reserve. His 14 receptions, 261 receiving yards and three touchdowns from the 2026 season will not be available during that minimum absence.

Davison’s promotion fills the open 53-man roster position created by the injured-reserve transaction, while Miller’s addition gives the practice squad another receiver. Rizy and Rupcich provide additional practice-squad options along the offensive line, and Jamison is no longer part of that group.

New England therefore enters the Chicago matchup with a 4-2 record, a newly promoted defensive back and three new practice-squad players. The immediate roster focus is Doubs’ minimum four-game absence after the shoulder injury he sustained on his 42-yard touchdown against the Jets.
