The Patriots added wide receiver Ryan Miller, offensive lineman Jacob Rizy and guard Andrew Rupcich to their practice squad while releasing cornerback D'Shawn Jamison on Oct. 19.

Patriots Add Three Players to Practice Squad, Release D'Shawn Jamison - New England Patriots

The New England Patriots signed Ryan Miller, Jacob Rizy and Andrew Rupcich to their practice squad and released D’Shawn Jamison on Oct. 19, 2026. The four moves included three additions and one departure for New England.

Pro Football Rumors reported the Patriots practice squad transactions as part of the NFL’s latest series of roster moves. The additions gave New England one more wide receiver and two more offensive linemen on its practice squad.

Patriots Practice Squad Adds Three Players on Oct. 19

Miller joined the Patriots practice squad as a wide receiver, while Rizy was added as an offensive lineman. Rupcich joined the group as a guard, giving New England two additions who can provide offensive-line depth in practice.

The transaction grouping covered distinct areas of the roster. Miller represents the receiver addition, while Rizy and Rupcich give the Patriots two more offensive-line options within the practice squad structure.

Pro Football Rumors listed the New England moves alongside practice squad transactions involving eight other teams on Oct. 19. The league-wide update included 11 signings and six releases across the listed clubs, with New England accounting for three signings and one release.

Ryan Miller, Jacob Rizy and Andrew Rupcich Join New England

Pro Football Rumors identified Miller’s position as wide receiver and Rizy’s as offensive lineman. The same transaction listing identified Rupcich specifically as a guard, separating his role from Rizy’s broader offensive-line designation.

Those position designations establish the immediate roster context for the three additions: New England added one player at receiver and two along the offensive line. The reported moves were practice squad signings, not trades or additions to the active roster.

The other Patriots transaction detail in the listing was the timing: all four New England moves were dated Oct. 19. That places Miller, Rizy and Rupcich in the same daily transaction group as Jamison’s departure.

Patriots Release D’Shawn Jamison From Practice Squad

Pro Football Rumors reported that the Patriots released cornerback D’Shawn Jamison from their practice squad on Oct. 19. Jamison’s transaction was the corresponding New England departure in the four-move update.

The release changed the composition of the practice squad while the Patriots added Miller, Rizy and Rupcich. Pro Football Rumors listed Jamison’s position as cornerback and identified his status before the move as a practice squad player.

New England’s update therefore involved both sides of the practice squad ledger: a cornerback exited, while a wide receiver and two offensive linemen entered. The position breakdown was one of the clearest distinctions in the Patriots’ four transactions.

Other NFL Practice Squad Moves Include Mazi Smith and Jake Moody

The broader NFL practice squad moves included activity from the Green Bay Packers and Baltimore Ravens. Pro Football Rumors reported that Green Bay signed defensive tackle Mazi Smith to its practice squad, while Baltimore signed kicker Jake Moody.

ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reported Smith’s addition to Green Bay, and NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that Smith worked out for the Packers before signing. Smith’s Packers transaction followed practice squad stops with the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins during the period described by Pro Football Rumors.

Pro Football Rumors also noted that Smith was a former Cowboys first-round pick. The defensive tackle appeared in one game for Miami this season before being released, after spending the end of the 2025 campaign and the 2026 preseason with the Jets and joining the Dolphins’ practice squad in early September.

Green Bay’s defensive-line move came with Javon Hargrave, Jonathan Ford and Warren Brinson on injured reserve, according to Pro Football Rumors. The Packers’ listed depth included Devonte Wyatt, Karl Brooks, third-round rookie Chris McClellan and Anthony Campbell.

Moody’s move gave Baltimore another kicker on its practice squad. Pro Football Rumors noted that Moody had spent time with the San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears and Washington Commanders before joining the Ravens.

The same account said Moody converted 75 percent of his field-goal attempts during those stints. Baltimore’s Tyler Loop had converted 88 percent as a rookie before his 2026 rate fell to 76.9 percent, and Pro Football Rumors noted that Loop missed a 49-yard attempt in the Ravens’ three-point Week 6 loss to Cleveland.

Pro Football Rumors also listed practice squad transactions involving the Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, Houston Texans, Las Vegas Raiders and Seattle Seahawks on Oct. 19. Buffalo signed cornerback Tre’Davious White and released cornerback A.J. Woods; Las Vegas signed offensive tackles Amari Kight and Darian Kinnard while releasing tight end Chris Myarick and offensive lineman Evan Neal.

Chicago signed defensive back KC Eziomume, Houston signed cornerback Collin Wright, and Seattle signed fullback Jackson Acker while releasing running back Dontae McMillan and wide receiver Malick Meiga. The Patriots’ update remained focused on three additions—Miller, Rizy and Rupcich—and Jamison’s release.
